Resolving Flatpak Support in Discover, Plasma Wayland: Enhancements in KDE Plasma 5.27.11 LTS

KDE Project has released KDE Plasma 5.27.11, a bug fix update for the long-standing KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS desktop series to address various bugs and issues.

Three months after the release of KDE Plasma 5.27.10 LTS, this latest update resolves crash issues within the KWin window and composite manager during use of the Plasma Wayland session, alongside another KWin crash that could be experienced when the screen arrangement changes during an X11 session.

Further, the latest update rectifies an issue causing black screens with only a movable cursor on switching from one virtual terminal to another when certain GPUs are being used, plus it optimizes support for laptops with backlit keyboards by correctly resetting the brightness level when the lid is opened or closed.

In addition to these, KDE Plasma 5.27.11 LTS includes support for clipboard content saved in Klipper for use with sandboxed apps via the portal system – enhancing the ability to paste files into these apps. It also refines the Weather widget to allow accurate refreshing of wind speed in forecasts from EnvCan, and permits changes to the Address, Name Style, Paper Size, or Phone Number settings in the Region & Language section within System Settings.

The recent update has brought improvements to the Plasma Browser Integration, Flatpak support in the Plasma Discover package manager. The changes include fixing the prompt for deleting the data of an uninstalled app, improvements in notifications, fixes of ostree container support in the Plasma Discover package manager, and assorted KWin bug fixes.

For more information look at the changelog on the official website. For users of KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS desktop environment series, monitor the stable software repositories of your preferred GNU/Linux distribution for the 5.27.11 packages and apply the updates at your earliest convenience.

It appears that KDE Plasma 5.27.11 is the final update to the KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS desktop environment series. However, if any major bugs are found, new maintenance updates may be released until the latest KDE Plasma 6 series is thoroughly adopted among GNU/Linux distributions.
