Red Hat has launched the latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), version 9.5, which comes packed with over 70 updates to enhance modern infrastructure, bolster security for AI workloads, and streamline workflows.
Key updates in RHEL 9.5 include advancements in confidential computing aimed specifically at AI tasks, along with improved file management features in the RHEL Cockpit web-based administration tool. A new system role for automated configurations at scale has been introduced, alongside hardened image configurations available through the Image Builder. Additionally, BIND 9.18 has been included for better DNS management.
For users who prefer the Cockpit GUI over command line operations, the web console now boasts a new file manager interface, offering a more intuitive way to handle files and folders remotely.
Networking features have significantly improved as well. The support for IPsec VPNs using IPv6 addressing has been enhanced, including support for the leftsubnet parameter, which caters to more complex subnet-to-subnet configurations.
Moreover, RHEL 9.5 introduces a sudo system role that automates the provision of sudo privileges on a larger scale, enhancing security measures. Podman also reached version 5.0, allowing developers to manage containers with a single command, simplifying the creation of multiplatform images.
