Today, NVIDIA has released the stable version of its 570 graphics driver series for Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris systems, introducing significant new features and performance enhancements.
A standout feature of the NVIDIA 570 series is the support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on multi-monitor setups. This update also includes a new kernel module parameter, conceal_vrr_caps, which allows users to utilize specific display features such as Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) that may not be compatible with VRR.
Additional updates in the NVIDIA 570 driver version include the ability to query the Dynamic Boost status, provide 32-bit compatibility for the NVIDIA GBM backend, and support for the systemd suspend-then-hibernate method. Users will also benefit from improved driver file visibility for container runtimes like nvidia-container-toolkit and enroot, which enhances gaming performance for titles like “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” and “Assassin’s Creed Mirage.”
Furthermore, the nvidia-settings control panel now utilizes NVML instead of NV-CONTROL for managing GPU clocks and fan speed on Wayland systems, and it enables GPU overclocking by default for compatible GPUs. The NVIDIA 570 driver also improves support for the Linux 6.11 and 6.12 LTS kernels, addressing various bugs from previous driver versions.
Users can download the NVIDIA 570.124.04 graphics driver, which is available for 64-bit and AArch64 (ARM64) Linux systems, as well as for 64-bit FreeBSD, and both 32-bit and 64-bit Solaris systems. For more detailed information, check out the release notes.
