The GNOME Project announced the release of GNOME 46.4 today, the fourth update in the GNOME 46 “Kathmandu” desktop environment series. This update includes various improvements, bug fixes, and updated translations.
Arriving a month after GNOME 46.3, this new release enhances connectivity with WPA2 enterprise networks, corrects visual glitches in the looking-glass effect, adds a Persian layout for the on-screen keyboard, improves the overview startup notification and keyboard navigation within app folders, and refines nested popovers in Wayland.
The GNOME Control Center (Settings) has also been updated to version 46.4, which includes minor fixes in the Accessibility, Apps, Network, Privacy, Users, and WWAN settings panels. Furthermore, the GNOME Remote Desktop has been updated in this release to handle invalid x224Crq data properly and to fix a file descriptor leak.
Meanwhile, Epiphany, also known as GNOME Web, in its 46.3 version now disables Firefox Sync, enhances support for new windows to always open in non-incognito mode, betters the application mode when the “always start in incognito mode” setting is enabled, and resolves several crashes.
Evince 46.3.1 document viewer is included in this update, featuring enhanced detection of non-seekable files and a new protocol to avoid loading these types of files directly. Additionally, GNOME Music 46.1 is integrated, offering better search functionality, improved management of corrupt image files, and various other corrections.
GNOME Software 46.4 resolves issues with formatting disruptions when utilizing “<code>
” in AppStream metadata. GNOME Online Accounts 3.50.4 now allows for editing details of Exchange accounts during re-authentication and ensures proper saving and resetting of settings for TLS certificate errors. Furthermore, GNOME Bluetooth 46.1 addresses an issue with broken device icons.
GNOME Builder 46.3 is part of this release too, including features like bypassing the Codespell plugin when spellchecking is turned off, restoring focus to the editor after document formatting, utilizing the Swift-format plugin to identify SDK tools via the build pipeline, ensuring the Terminal checks ctrl mask for ctrl+click link operations, and enhancements to the Clang-format and Xml-pack plugins.
