Rigorous third-party review validates ColoCrossing’s commitment to providing the highest levels of security and environmental controls to its datacenter customers

BUFFALO, N.Y. — ColoCrossing, an outsourced IT services provider, has received Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 for its Buffalo, N.Y. datacenter.  Assessed by auditors from A-Lign, a nationwide security and compliance solutions provider , this certification demonstrates ColoCrossing’s commitment to the highest standards of operational excellence for its customers.

The audit, which was conducted at ColoCrossing’s Buffalo datacenter, determined that the site met or exceeded SSAE16 standards for physical security and environmental controls. In the robust assessment, auditors tested the accuracy of the controls and the implementation and effectiveness of controls in our datacenter over a six-month period. The certification is especially critical for ColoCrossing’s financial services customers, for which SSAE16 compliance is often a requirement.

“Our Buffalo datacenter offers unique strategic advantages to customers due to its proximity to Chicago, New York City and Toronto, and its reliance on renewable, hydroelectric power from nearby Niagara Falls. To receive SSAE16 compliance in this facility is a tremendous accomplishment for ColoCrossing. Providing and maintaining the highest level of security and environmental controls is critical for our customers, and this certification further confirms our commitment to quality for them,” said ColoCrossing CEO Jon Biloh.

SSAE No. 16 is a new reporting standard for services organizations put forth by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). SSAE16, which replaces Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS70), addresses engagements undertaken by a service auditor for reporting on controls at service organizations (e.g., datacenter providers) that provide services to user entities, for which a service organization’s controls are likely to be relevant to a user entity’s internal control over financial reporting (ICFR).
