Through our carrier/transit partners ColoCrossing’s Buffalo datacenter is now directly peered with many of Canada’s largest internet service providers. This private link allows for very high speed, low latency, communication between the ColoCrossing datacenter and Canadians on the Rogers, Cogeco, TekkSavvy and Videotron networks. Instead of traffic traversing the common internet and traveling long distances it now goes directly from the ISP to TORIX (the Toronto Internet Exchange) and then right to the ColoCrossing Buffalo datacenter — increasing speeds and reducing latency by more than 70% on average!
For example, this particular Canadian customer previously “pinged” (the time it takes for a round trip from source to destination on the internet) 35 msec from his home office to the Buffalo datacenter. Now that our direct connection is active, the latency has been reduced to only 6 msec!
