Today, the Armbian community announced the release of Armbian 25.2, a significant update that improves functionality and expands hardware support for this Debian and Ubuntu-based distribution designed for ARM devices. This version introduces long-term support for the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel across most of the boards and enhances the user experience.

This release comes approximately three months after Armbian 24.11, adding support for several new boards, including Rock 2A and 2F, NanoPi R3S, Retroid Pocket RP5, RPMini, Rock 5T, GenBook, MKS-PI, SKIPR, Armsom CM5, NextThing C.H.I.P, and Magicsee C400 Plus.

In addition to board support, Armbian 25.2 features various updates specific to Rockchip 3588, such as HDMI driver enhancements and USB3 fixes, alongside improvements to Bluetooth support. Users can also benefit from the availability of various deployment tools, including AdGuardHome, Pi-Hole, Home Assistant, Utime Kuma, NetData, Grafana, Cockpit with KVM management, and NextCloud, accessible via the armbian-config utility. Moreover, the update includes U-Boot 2024.10, an automatic wireless testing infrastructure, and RTW88 drivers.

To further enhance user experience, the Armbian build and mirror network has been expanded with new sites in Amsterdam, Vienna, and Nuremberg. The upgrade to the Content Delivery Network (CDN) aims to ensure better accessibility worldwide and faster torrent downloading for community files by mirroring GitHub downloads through the Armbian CDN.

Armbian 25.2 also brings multiple enhancements to already supported boards and System on Chips (SoCs), including Rock S0, NanoPi R6S, Radxa E20C, BananaPi BPI-F3, Banana Pi BPI-CM4, Banana Pi BPI-M4 Zero, BIGTREETECH Pi 2/CB2, youyeetoo R1, Radxa Zero, Allwinner A10, Avaota-A1, CoolPi CM5, Rockchip 64, Odroid XU4, JetHome JetHub D2, Raspberry Pi 5, and the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5.

For additional details, you can check out the release announcement page and the full changelog. The new version of Armbian can now be downloaded from the official website, which supports a broad array of ARM devices, including most Raspberry Pi models.
