This release introduces several enhancements, focusing on improvements in system performance monitoring, visualization, and data collection. Users will find updated module streams aimed at supporting web applications better and enhanced security features to strengthen cryptography. Notably, crypto-policies packages have been updated to allow better control over algorithm selection in Java applications.
Moreover, the SELinux policy has been updated, allowing the QEMU Guest Agent to execute confined commands with enhanced controls. The ca-certificates program has also seen updates to provide trusted CA roots in the OpenSSL directory format.
From a development perspective, AlmaLinux OS 9.5 offers improved performance, reliability, and scalability. This is largely due to the inclusion of updated compilers, including GCC 14, LLVM 18.1.8, Rust 1.79.0, and Go 1.22, along with other tools essential for application management and development.
Included in the updated package roster are .NET 9.0, BIND 9.18, Apache 2.4.62, Node.js 22, and Valgrind 3.23.0, among others. The OS continues to run on Linux kernel 5.14.0-427.13.1.el9_4, ensuring stability and support for modern hardware.
